We're All Mad Here

Happy New Year! Well, nothing has changed besides the calendar date. Coronavirus is still lingering and things in the United States have people asking for a refund on their 7-day free trial. It's a mess. Now, politics aside... if you happened to read the title of my post, you may know it to be from Alice in Wonderland (a quote from the Cheshire Cat to be exact). Who else is apart of Alice in Wonderland? The Mad Hatter! That's what we are here for today, yall... my hats!

There happens to be a hat craze among us. I see them everywhere and unfortunately, some of the most flattering "fashion blogger" hats are nearly $100, if not more. I don't know about you, but I would be up out of my mind to pay that for a hat. I am sure they are of great quality, and clearly the designs are gorgeous... but let's be real, I'm not a well-to-do fashion blogger and I don't have $100 to drop on a single hat.

Welcome to the budget-friendly hat hoedown showdown! Where did I find these beauties? Target! All made by Universal Thread, and I am obsessed! I love this particular style of hat, and I cannot wait to see what color-way they launch next. I'm hoping for a soft tan. Universal Thread, can you hear me? A soft light beige-tan!

If y'all have one or buy one, please let me know how you love it... and how you style it!

Ain't No Shame In My Purple Pant Game!

Hey y'all! Long time no talk! I have a tiny bit of updated information since we last spoke. Last year, I dropped everything social... slowly, but then all together. I really just felt so uninspired and lost... and it didn't help that I got screwed out of a position at work. Late 2019, I decided it was time to focus on myself... starting with a career I could see myself loving. I decided to go back to school. That's right... I packed up my life and flew across the country to Oregon and attended school for esthetics. As you are clearly all aware, after completing my freshman courses, the pandemic hit. Great times, great times. With that being said, I hope you are all healthy and doing well.

I graduated and passed my state board exams in August and flew back home in September. This is where things get a little funny. COVID-19 is still in full swing, so I went back to work at my old job one day a week (for now) and still felt like I was missing something. I picked up my social media again. I really do love it. So, I'm back and I'm sticking to it. I post most often on Instagram, but I did just join TikTok, and of course I'm here! I plan to try post once a week on my blog at bare minimum. This is my space, I created it and I need to nurture it. I'm doing what I can with what I got and I hope you all visit often!

As for the photos above, I got some new pants! They cute, huh? I purchased this black, ribbed turtle neck from Mango and these mom jeans from Zara... but they are limited edition so get them while you can, if you can! As for the shoes... those were a random grab at JCPenney. They are platform vans in the traditional black and white color way; however, I am still debating on keeping them, especially since Trevor thinks they're "too young" for me. I mean, I'm grasping at all the strings of my youth so they might have to stay. What do you think?

Top: Ribbed Mock Neck (no longer available in black) *

Pants: Z1975 MOM FIT JEANS (random restocks occur as of 12/5/2020*)

Shoes: Vans® Ward Women's Platform Skate Shoes (got mine from JCPenney but they are not available online) *

Frolicking in Florence

Hey guys! I am officially back home in New Jersey reminiscing about my trip in Oregon. One of my favorite places to go while I am visiting the Pacific North West is Florence, Oregon (not that I wander all over the PNW or anything). It is such a sweet little town that feels very homey. When Trevor and I visit, we spend most of our time on Bay Street which is this street (obviously) that has all these cute little shops and restaurants on it! When the sun is shining, everybody is on Bay Street!

We went over to the coast twice this past visit, and the second visit was the best weather I experienced out of all my time in Oregon! Between the sun, the subtle chill to the air, and all the people walking around... I just loved the day. Of course we made a photo opportunity out of it, so that is what I am here to share! Also, if you ever get the chance to visit this spot... do yourself a favor and eat at Bridgewater (also known as the Zebra Bar). The place has some serious curb appeal and the interior decor is a little quirky... which is not the point of eating there, but I thought I would throw in some extra detail. The food is freaking amazing. So simple, yet so delicious.  N o t h i n g  compares.

Laceless Shoes with Laced Up Sweats

Hey, hey! Obviously ya'll can see I am in the same exact denim jacket and the same ASOS brand white slip-ons as in earlier posts, but that is the point of clothing, right? Wear it... and wear it again! It was a bit chilly out today so I decided to create an outfit around these sweatpants because they are thick and the inside is a soft fleece material... so comfy! I also love that they are high-waisted and have a cute little lace up detail on the front, it adds a little something extra to an otherwise basic pair of sweats.

I kept everything pretty neutral because I do not have much to match the green pants. The black long-sleeve is a thin material so I layered on a denim jacket (which also helps the outfit look more put together), and threw on some sneakers since I was running around town! I personally feel like this is such an easy outfit to put on and get out the door. It is comfortable and I feel comfortable in it... and that is style rule number one, my friends!

PHARRELL WILLIAMS ||| Hues of Humanity

I love, love, love shoes. I feel that shoes are a great item to create a fashion statement with because they can easily set the tone for any outfit. My favorite shoe overall is definitely a pointy-toe flat with an ankle strap, but I have a fairly good variety of shoes for the four seasons I experience here in New Jersey (and we are not talking hoarder level, I swear). The only shoe (besides heels, because I do not wear heels) that I lacked in my "collection" was a pair of comfortable, fashionable sneakers... until now that is! I would say I am not a huge sneaker wearer, but I do have a few pairs (one pair for working out/getting dirty, and another pair that I keep as clean as possible so they stay semi-professional, but I am not nervous if they get a scuff here and there from running around doing stock).

When I was in Oregon this past visit, I ended up at the Adidas headquarters where I saw the Pharrell Williams Hu Tennis shoe for the first time. They did not have my size in stock, so I went on a hunt. Since the shoe is sold in mens sizing and unisex youth... I was able to fit into a youth size 7 (for reference, I normally wear a womens 9)! I am pretty excited about the size because obviously the youth-sized shoe is cheaper than the adult shoe, so that was a huge bonus for me! I ordered mine off Champs online and utilized a coupon which brought my shoe cost down to $56! Not too shabby. The color way is Running White / Running White / Raw Pink and it was definitely the raw pink tabs that sold me, just see for yourself!

Photography & Portraits in Portland

As you all know, I spent three and half weeks in Oregon. As you are reading this, I am actually boarding my flight back home to New Jersey, which is bittersweet because I really hate leaving my boyfriend, but I do miss my little rotten puppy dog! I did not pack too, too many things in my suitcase this trip... so yes, you are seeing the same pair of jeans occasionally (because they are the only ones I brought)! The outfit I am posting today is the outfit I wore for my second day in Portland. We decided to head downtown and browse some shops in the area. Most of the photos were taken inside Anthropologie since their decor is just too good not to photograph. Do you see that cotton-candy wall?!

The bodysuit is a little risqué so I taped it down with fashion tape. I did not want any wardrobe malfunctions on the busy streets, so they were super handy! They are by a brand called Hollywood (I believe), and I picked them up at Walmart (cosmetics section)! In addition to that, I also used adhesive petals from EBay to prevent any poking... if you know what I mean! Anyway... this outfit is super simple, but that is my favorite style-- simple, and the easiest way to achieve that in the summer heat is by wearing a bodysuit, denim, and some sort of slip-on shoe... as you can see by this and my last casual outfit post!

Paired with Plants

On August 16, 2017 I flew out to Oregon with my boyfriend. I visit Oregon quite often since my boyfriend lives here, which is a whole other story (we met on MySpace way back in the day), and if you are interested in knowing more about that... I plan to post a video focusing on it in the future! Anyway, Oregon is a beautiful state with beautiful big trees, kind people, and great pride in their local businesses. Trevor and I always find ourselves wandering shops and stopping to take in the sights all over the state. We popped into a small business in downtown Eugene and snapped some photos of what I was wearing! It was a casual day and with the warm heat in Oregon, it was a perfect option!
